The last general meeting of the Madeira Chamber of Commerce was held on Wednesday, April 16th, 2008. The meeting discussed plans of the sidewalk sale that will be held this summer to showcase local businesses and allow residents and visitors to see the community and explore the restuarants and the shops in Madeira. The meeting alsokeynote Speaker Chief of Police Mr. Maupin talk about how to secure your buildings and what the police and can for the businesses of Madeira. The next meeting will be on May 14th @ 12:00 p.m. at the city building.
We are currently looking for Madeira businesses to host special creative networking events at various times and locations that will provide an opportunity to meet, greet, trade business and marketing ideas. Please call Kristen Hertzer at 513-271-1122 or 272-4200 to discuss and schedule your event!

Strategic Plan [2007 – 2010]
1. Develop creative networking opportunities for the Madeira business community
2. Provide leadership in public relations/advertising/branding strategies to increase awareness and use of Madeira business and community offerings
3. Provide member access to small business benefit programs including health, workman’s compensation, and other ancillary business benefits
4. Identify community activities where the Madeira Chamber of Commerce can play a supportive role
5. Recruit local leadership to serve on the Madeira Chamber Board.

2008 Work Plan
1. ACTION: Initiate new networking that will connect businesses to each other including conducting events at Madeira business locations. TIMING: Network Planning: June 2008. First proposed event July 2008.
2. ACTION: Provide leadership for a public relations/image campaign for the Madeira business community. TIMING: Chamber will request proposals from local ad agencies to be submitted by July 15, 2008 to create a Madeira Business Community Image campaign. Selection of agency and retainer by August 1, 2008. Agency will present campaign to business community by third week in August. Confirm business participation level by August 31. Anticipated campaign launch Fall 2007.
3. ACTION: Continue to offer and expand on benefits programs to Madeira Chamber of Commerce members. TIMING: Continuous. Enrollment upon joining Chamber. Renewal each January 1. Explore additional benefits that could be offered to members.
4. ACTION: Announce that the Madeira Chamber will be playing a supportive role only in community events, including the 2008 Holiday Walk & Festival. TIMING: Discuss with the Madeira City Manager and city leaders the changing role of the Madeira Chamber regarding the Holiday Walk & Festival.
5. ACTION: Recruit local leadership to serve on the Madeira Chamber Board. TIMING: Issue Press Release requesting Board Volunteers by June 15, 2008.

Mission: To Address issues pertinent to the business community. To research information and make recommendations to the full Board of Directors as necessary. This committee is responsible for keeping the business community informed about issues that will impact business locally.

Marketing Committee:
Mission: To promote the Chamber and its activities to the community. Determine a marketing strategy to educate the community as to the work of the Chamber. Review marketing materials for branding consistency. Meets as needed.

Nominations Committee: The Nominations Committee provides names to the Chamber Board of Directors of interested Chamber Members willing to serve on the Board of Directors or as Chamber Officers in annual elections or vacancies.

Publicity Committee: This committee oversees both internal and external communication for the Madeira Chamber of Commerce. Internal communication with our members includes producing the monthly newsletter, as well as the membership directory and any other periodic information that needs to reach our membership. External communication includes all outside publicity and press relations.
